2/11/2022

The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, announced it is giving back by donating $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana.

Indianapolis, IN – Feb. 3, 2022 – In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $10,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) Little Impacts and Big Futures programs.

The BBBSCI Little Impacts program provides a yearlong series of outcome-oriented enrichment programming based on the Thrive Foundation for Youth’s 12 Thriving Indicators. These indicators were designed to help boys and girls develop skills to reach their full potential around the areas of Character, Caring, Contribution, Confidence, Connection and Competence.

Through the Little Impacts program, matches can easily engage in approximately 100 match events and 72 do-on-your own activities.  From STEM activities to vision boarding and teaching mindfulness techniques, each activity is created with the intent of preparing “Littles” to be successful as they progress into high school.

The Big Futures program is BBBSCI’s career and college readiness program. Big Futures events are designed with consideration given to building the fundamental tools necessary for Littles to achieve sustainable employment. These events encourage Littles to develop hard and soft skills, assist in exploration of different career paths, break down barriers, help Littles make professional connections, and provide Littles access to resources needed for personal development. Activities include multiple college tours, a career exploration panel and networking event, cooking and nutrition classes, activities exposing Littles to different industries, resources for internships and apprenticeships from partners, meal etiquette events, and scholarship opportunities.

“BBBSCI is so grateful to the Union Home Mortgage Foundation for our long-standing and transformative partnership. Since 2018, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation has supported intentional youth development programing for BBBSCI Littles. This year, Union Home Mortgage Foundation will support programming focused on building life skills and career and college readiness. As an additional resource to help Littles enhance their life skills, Union Home Mortgage will provide access to several of the Foundation’s uLaunch career readiness classes for high schoolers and young adults. Thank you, Union Home Mortgage Foundation, for helping hundreds of Littles achieve their full potential!” said Laura Haltom, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager at BBBSCI.

“We’re proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana in this critical area of need,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage. “Service, accountability and commitment are all core tenets of who we are as partners, in our communities, and we see that clearly reflected in this important work.”
