The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, announced it is giving back by donating $5,000 to HFS Chicago Scholars.

Chicago, IL – Feb.3, 2022 – In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $5,000 to HFS Chicago Scholars.

HFS Chicago Scholars helps underserved Chicago high school students flourish in and out of the classroom by providing educational enrichment through its mentoring, college readiness and academic excellence programs. HFS Chicago Scholars also provides financial assistance to help students attend top Chicago-area schools. On average, over 90% of the program’s scholars make the honor roll and 100% of its graduates are accepted to, and attend, top colleges and universities.

“HFS Chicago Scholars is grateful for the support from the Union Home Mortgage Foundation. Since 1993, we have changed lives one student at a time. Our scholars go on to make a difference in the world by becoming doctors, business leaders, teachers and engineers,” said Desirée Pepper-Venzant, Executive Director of HFS Chicago Scholars. “Thank you for allowing HFS to further its mission to help provide more opportunities to underserved, high-achieving high school students in the Chicagoland area.”

“At Union Home Mortgage, we believe individuals of all ages should have access to a quality education. Yet, many face significant barriers due to lack of opportunity,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage. “We’re thrilled to be able to support HFS Chicago Scholars and their invaluable work on this key issue so that deserving students can reach their full potential.”
