The Union Home Mortgage Foundation hosted this year’s Hustle for Homeownership 5k race on June 12th through 26th! Thanks to the generosity of our participants and donors, we were able to raise $34,400 to support the Foundation’s mission to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

The Union Home Mortgage Foundation hosted its annual Hustle for Homeownership 5k Race this past June in support of the Foundation’s four pillars. The community was able to support our nonprofit partners and programs by showing their hustle between June 12th-26th! For the second year in a row, the 5k race was held in a virtual format which allowed our participants to complete their 5k in a variety of ways.

Participants were able to sign up for the 5k race to complete 3.1 miles in support of one UHM Foundation pillar: Career Readiness, Education, Housing, or Financial Literacy. Additionally, participants that wanted to show their support of all four pillars were able to complete “The Challenge” – a 12.4-mile option! Over the course of two weeks, participants were able to complete their race in any format they preferred, and boy did some of them get creative. One UHM partner chose to swim her course around a local lake. A group of partners in Michigan chose to “wine and walk” their way through a vineyard! Our participants even got to choose their race day buddies – whether it was friends and family, partners from work, or even furry friends, we loved getting to see the creativity from our race-day participants!

Although the 5k race was completed apart from one another, participants were still connected as they hustled in all four colors that represent the Foundation’s pillars, while equipped with pillar t-shirts, ear buds, and a gold medal!

The UHM Foundation is thankful for each of the 263 participants and 206 donors that contributed to the 5k this year. Thanks to the generosity of each participant and donor, we were able to raise $34,400 – the largest amount in our 5K history! This support will allow the Foundation to continue our mission while adding new programs all aimed to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
