Union Home Mortgage Foundation Announces Financial Support for Shelter Inc.’s Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program

In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $2,500 to the Arlington Heights, Illinois-based nonprofit Shelter Inc.

Strongsville, OH – February 3, 2023 – The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, the charitable arm of Union Home Mortgage whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources needed to achieve economic self-sufficiency, announced today $2,500 in support of Arlington Heights, Illinois-based Shelter Inc. The donation will benefit the organization’s mission supporting young people facing housing and financial insecurity.

“We are proud to support Shelter Inc. in its work to raise the standard of living for traditionally underserved members of our communities,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage and Chairman of the Foundation. “Through this partnership, we are providing tools and resources to promote financial independence and housing stability in alignment with our mission to create lasting change in the areas we call home.”

Shelter Inc. offers a 2-year program for youths aged 14-24 struggling with housing insecurity and financial instability. The organization’s Youth Experiencing Homelessness program provides transitional housing and comprehensive support services with the goal of transitioning youth to permanent, stable homes. The program teaches essential skills such as job readiness training, budgeting, emotional skill building, obtaining benefits, and applying for a mortgage.

Santa, Shelter’s Executive Director. “Our partnership in helping young people transition to stable housing through our Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program will turn crises into successful outcomes. In addition to its Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program, Shelter has emergency group home and supervised apartment housing for specialized cases that require specific care and assistance. Through the organization’s continuum of care, Shelter is able to provide individualized support to participants and assist families in overcoming stressors that may cause homelessness.
