In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $2,500 to the Ogden, Utah-based nonprofit YCC Family Crisis Center.

Strongsville, OH – February 3, 2023 – The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, the charitable arm of Union Home Mortgage whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources needed to achieve economic self-sufficiency, announced today a $2,500 gift in support of Ogden, Utah-based nonprofit YCC Family Crisis Center. The gift will support the organization’s ongoing mission to assist individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.

“Housing is such an important source of safety and stability in a person’s life and we’re deeply grateful to support the YCC Family Crisis Center in their mission to deliver it into the lives of those who need it most,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage and Chairman of the Foundation. “We believe that everyone has a right to homeownership, and for those impacted by domestic or sexual violence, it can be a first step to regaining control of their lives and moving on to a brighter future.”

YCC Family Crisis Center’s Housing Assistance Center supports individuals and families experiencing homelessness through trauma-informed temporary assistance, case management, and permanent supportive housing. During their time in finding and establishing permanent housing, clients have access to support services including outreach, needs assessments, crisis intervention, mental health services, counseling, mentoring, education, and advocacy. The Housing Assistance Center coordinates services with other community organizations to provide clients with follow-up assistance once they are housed to continue supporting these families.

“Due to the financial abuse involved in many domestic violence cases, victims are often forced to choose between homelessness for themselves and their children or staying with their abuser. YCC services help end this violent cycle,” said a   “It is amazing to see a fearful person become a strong, capable woman caring for herself and her family, secure in herself, and able to maintain her safety and housing. We’re so thankful to the Union Home Mortgage Foundation for their support of this critical work.”

YCC case managers work with victims to find housing safe from their abusers and provide rental assistance for up to one year. Survivors receive intensive case management, including goal setting, job attainment, legal assistance, medical referrals, retrieval of personal items/vital documents, childcare, therapy, and any other support services victims may need on their journey to healthy lives.
