In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $5,000 to the Cleveland, Ohio-based nonprofit Providence House Inc.

Strongsville, OH – February 3, 2023 – The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, the charitable arm of Union Home Mortgage whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources needed to achieve economic self-sufficiency, announced today a $5,000 grant to Cleveland, Ohio-based nonprofit Providence House Inc. The gift will support the organization’s work assisting families experiencing homelessness or living in unsafe conditions.

“Union Home Mortgage is committed to providing the resources and support those in our communities need to realize economic self-sufficiency,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage and Chairman of the Foundation. “By partnering with dedicated and engaged organizations like Providence House, we’re able to amplify our impact in the neighborhoods we call home and ensure a brighter tomorrow for all.”

Providence House supports families experiencing homelessness and unsafe living conditions through a trauma-informed, holistic program focused on child abuse prevention and family preservation. The organization provides safe, voluntary, emergency shelter and 24/7 loving care to children when their families are experiencing a crisis. Children receive emergency shelter and care in the Family Preservation Crisis Nursery while licensed social workers engage parents and guardians in case management, parent education, housing support, and trauma services. Through individualized support, education, and resources, families can address roadblocks preventing them from achieving permanent stability and housing. The end goal is to return safe, healthy families to neighborhoods and strengthen communities throughout Cuyahoga County.

“Through emergency housing and comprehensive services, we really provide a stronger foundation for the future of those we serve, which in turn strengthens our community,” said Natalie A. Leak, Providence House President and CEO. “We do more than just deal with current trauma, we provide stability for families moving forward in their lives and we are grateful for Union Home’s recognition and support of that.”

In the last year, Providence House has served 170 children from 94 families through its Crisis Nursery. The organization has seen a 29% increase in families living in their own homes or apartments after working with Providence House.
