Wilmington, North Carolina – August 9, 2022 – In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $2,500 to the Wilmington, North Carolina-based nonprofit Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM).

WARM empowers low-income households by helping create safe, accessible, and well-maintained living spaces. Households that qualify for WARM’s services have access to urgent, safety-related home repairs and accessibility modifications at no cost. Typical repairs or modifications include wheelchair ramp construction, grab bar installation, flooring repairs, plumbing improvements, stairs and landing construction, roof repairs, and heating or air conditioning repairs. WARM aims to restore the home to health, ensure the opportunity to age in place, and safeguard monetary value.

“We are absolutely thrilled and thankful to the Union Home Mortgage Foundation for this generous grant,” said JC Lyle, Executive Director at WARM. “This funding will provide urgent, safety-related repairs and accessibility upgrades to a homeowner who desperately needs them but can’t afford them. Through these repairs, another local family will not only be able to keep living in their home, but they’ll also be able to see the health and safety conditions in the home improve. WARM meets a critical community need for addressing affordable housing by making sustainable, healthy, and safe housing improvements and repairs for homeowners with limited resources. Our mission is just one of many needed to alleviate poverty and improve health through homeownership”

“Union Home Mortgage believes housing plays a critically important role in the health of our communities and in the lives of individuals across the country,” said Bill Cosgrove, CEO and Founder of Union Home Mortgage. “We are so pleased to be able to support organizations like Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry in its assistance of vulnerable populations with special circumstances along the housing continuum.”
